So, Cheers to 35!

I’m 35!

That feels weird to say, mostly because I’m pretty sure I was just 26 yesterday. I kept telling everyone I was turning 26.5, so my husband made sure to put 26 on my birthday cake. 🤣  I've decided that 35 is an optional number and we can just keep pretending we’re in our twenties if we want to.

I’m really not mad about it though ... turning 35 and all.

This birthday was such a good one. Nothing crazy or elaborate. We had a spaghetti dinner with family, drank wine, ate homemade food, had multiple cakes, and spent the night around the table together. It was one of those nights that isn’t necessarily a big event, but when you’re in the middle of it, you realize how nice it is to just be there.

My husband made my favorite chocolate cake from my Gilmore Girls cookbook completely from scratch! It was one of the sweetest birthday things he could have done for me. If you know me, you know I will never turn down chocolate cake, and if it’s a Gilmore Girls chocolate cake? Even better.

We celebrated 3 birthdays that night, so the whole thing turned into all three of us having cakes and blowing out candles. Me, my husband, and my twin brother. Three cakes sitting on the table waiting to be wished on.

It was such a great night.

And looking back at the pictures, I think that's what I want to remember most about turning 35. Not what I haven't accomplished yet. Not the things I thought I'd have figured out by now. Not some imaginary timeline I made up for myself years ago.

Just a table full of people I love. Spaghetti. Wine. Cake. Flowers. Candles. My husband making me a cake from scratch. Everyone together at our table.

My life, exactly as it is right now.
I really love it.

So, cheers to 35!

I'm really really looking forward to this year.
